burial places Auld family
« on: Monday 26 July 10 15:28 BST (UK) »
Hi, Hope I have posted this in the right place.
I am hoping to travel to Edinburgh in a couple of months and I would like to find out anything about the Auld family,Also where any of the Auld family were laid to rest.
The names I would most like to find are John Auld & his wife Kathrine. Sorry this is not much information  but I do not know anything about them yet apart from they had six children around 1920-1930ish one has already died and another I have found is too ill at present so I do not want to pester him.
I believe they may have been farmers but I do not know where.
Sorry it is not much to go on,but I know how helpful  you people are so I thought it might be worth asking.
Many thanks
missmilly

Hi ,
Have you any idea where and when they died  that would make it a bit easier to try and pinpoint there are so many cemeteries in and surrounding Edinburgh or it might have been a cremation. To get the date of death try on line at Scotlands People it costs £6:00 for thirty credits
on the certificate you will find  you the area they lived in and from that it will be easier to find them.
Once you have found that come back on and I will try and point you in the right direction

If I need to put any more info on , which board do I use so I do not confuse things even more ?

hi missmilly  :)

i've had a look at the SP index
there are only 4 marriages in scotland 1900 to 1940 for john auld and *ath*rine ?
3 are in lanarkshire and 1 in midlothian
john william auld and catherine hunte(?) johnstone edinburgh midlothian 1922
might be likely  :-\
the lanarkshire ones are 1905 , 1909 , 1915

Thanks ev, wow that was fast!!
I think it may well be the midlotian  one, as I think john remarried & some of his family disapproved .
It was not spoken about so it has been hard to get any information.
Thank you again , it looks like I may find some ancestors at last. ;D :)
