Hello alancfradgley are you related to the couple?
Actually Samuel and Sarah had five children that I know of
John 1813
Samuel 1815
Sarah 1818
Charlotte 1825
and Joseph 1827
I am curious as to why there was a gap between Sarah and Charlotte any ideas?
How did you find the name of the pub ? its eluded me for years but there is a listing in Post Office Directory of Birmingham, Staffordshire & Worcestershire, 1850 for Sarah Share King's Head, Holly Hall so I think that is more likely the pub
Samuel was listed in Pigot's 1835 as a retailer of Beer while a Thomas Morris was at the Jollie Collier

Gaps often appear when there are babies lost such as miscarriages or stillbirths.

Seven years seems a long time I wonder was Samuel in the forces or even jail  worth a look perhaps but I doubt it was the latter or he surely would never have been granted a licence.

Hi  alancfradgley
You didn't say if the Shares are on your tree? If they are I can help you quite a bit. There seem to have been several pubs/taverns and beerhouses around in the 1850s. The only mention I have to the name of one kept by Sarah was the Kings Head on the 1851 census and then in the County Express; Brierley Hill, Stourbridge, Kidderminster, and Dudley News 10 April 1869 " Transfer of Licenses
The King William Inn, Holly Hall, from Daniel Baker, deceased, to Sarah Baker." Daniel Baker was Sarah's second husband. i made several enquiries and was told the King's Head was the King William. How well do you know the history of the Jolly Collier ? I know it is in the 1835 Pigot and Co.'s National Commercial Directory ...: Worcestershire

OK you have got me curious can you tell me where I can see your tree to compare it with mine. So far I have not found a Share going to or coming back from the USA. Am I right in thinking your Gt Grandmother was a Sarah Share and married a Taylor? Her son Samuel was born in the USA but lived in Dudley in 1939?The nearest one I can find in 1939 was born 1875 and married to Nancy but they are at 19 Low Town not 10and no mention of the Jollie Collier, is this the right couple?
Ah now is this right Sarah Share married a Taylor was widowed and then married a Joseph Lloyd in 1884 is that right? but who was Sarah's father?

That's my Joseph Lloyd named after his Uncle Joseph (my gt gt grandfather) who was killed in a pit accident.

Joseph who married Sarah Share was the son of James Lloyd and Hannah Hickman.

Wow how interesting good old Rootschat it really solves a few interesting family stories,
Now who were this Sarah's parents and how do they link to mine?
I go  back to Thomas Share born Sedgley 1760 son of Thomas and Ann Share my husband's 6x gt grand parents so if we can link this Sarah to my tree I shall be happy to help you both back a few generations
