Millhall was Polmaise 1 & 2 while Fallin was Polmaise 3 & 4.

I worked at Millhall just after I left school as a 15 year old in 1953. I think I was 16 before I was allowed to work underground.
My father was a Fireman/Shotfirer there. Part of his duties was to walk, every Sunday morning, along the three mile escape route between Millhall and Fallin checking that everything was sound,  undertaking any necessery repair work and reporting any required larger maintanence jobs.
He was allowed to stand on the open platform of the double-decker bus from fallin back to Millhall.

Found some photos that may be of interest.

First one is "Fallin Old Folks Treat". Kneeling on far left of the picture is Thomas Bunyan; I don't know who anyone else in the photo is. This photo is from about the 1950s-60s. The photo was taken for the Stirling Observer.

Second photo is Polmaise Bowling Club, from the 1960s I believe.

'Stalin' Ryan was a miner who worked in Fallin pit about 1930, his photograph appears in Hugh G. Kerr's book about Fallin, as do other Ryans.  Eleanor Boyd is also mentioned in this book.  Kathy.
