COTTON/TAYLOR of Hitchin
« on: Friday 30 July 10 07:17 BST (UK) »
I am looking for descendants of Alfred Samuel Cotton, born about 1879 in Hitchin, HRT. He was the son of Charles Cotton and Hannah Worsley Taylor. Alfred was still single and living with his mother in Hitchin at the time of the 1911 census but may have been married to Emily Dean in 1919 at Brentford, MDX.

I'd suggest you check whether your chap married Emily Dean or not.  If he did they may have stayed in Brentford - and you can look for Cotton births with mother's maiden name Dean in the births indexes.

Hi Cotten if he did marry Emily Dean (and I have my doubts ) he would appear to have died in the Hertfordshire area in 1946:-

Hi

To summarise ..........

1881 Emily is at home
1891 Emily is working in Paddington
1894 Emily marries David Dean
1901 Emily is with David Dean with 3 children
1901 Alfred SC is at home
1906 David Dean dies

1911 Alfred SC is at home
1911 Emily is ?

1919 Alfred (40) marries Emily (45)

I cannot spot any relevant births (not to say there isn't any) post-1906
Assuming that there were no children prior to marriage, I think that her age tends to rule children almost out.

Anyone else spot anything?
