Mary Louisa Rowe-Buckingham, Born 1859 Alderney, daughter of George Henry Rowe-Buckingham and Mary Rowe-Buckingham nee Arscott (Per Ancestry website)

1861 Census at 13 Albert's Place, Newtown, St Anne's, Alderney
Henry Rowe-Buckingham (34) B 1827 Labourer B England (not using George as first name?)
Mary Rowe-Buckingham (34) B 1827 Wife B England
John A Rowe-Buckingham (16) B 1845 Son Labourer B England
Elizabeth A Rowe-Buckingham (13) B 1848 Daughter B England
Matthew A Rowe-Buckingham (10) B 1851 Son B England
Amelia A Rowe-Buckingham (7) B 1854 Daughter B England
Emily R Rowe-Buckingham (6) B 1855 Daughter B Alderney
Henry Rowe-Buckingham (4) B 1857 Son B Alderney
Mary L Rowe-Buckingham (1) B 1860 Daughter B Alderney
Robert Bourn (60) B 1801 Lodger, Married, Labourer B England

Could the following be Mary at the time of the 1871 Census?  I looked around and could not find the surname Buckingham, but this Rowe could be a possible fit?  Did they drop Buckingham from their name?

1871 Census at Old Nunnery, Longy, Alderney
Henry Rowe (44) B 1827 Farmer of 16 Acres B England
Mary Rowe (43) B 1828 Wife B England
Emily S Rowe (16) B 1855 Daughter B Alderney
Mary L Rowe (11) B 1860 Daughter B Alderney
William Rowe (7) B 1864 Son B Alderney

I can find no trace of Mary Louisa after the 1871 Census.  Do you know if she stayed in the Channel Islands or emigrated?

1881 Census at Longy Common, Alderney
Henry Rowe (57) B 1824 Farmer B England
Mary Rowe (55) B 1826 Wife B England
William Rowe (17) B 1864 Farmer's Son B Alderney
Archibald Sharp (4) B 1877 Grandson B Alderney (There is an Amelia Sharp at the time of the 1881 Census - presumed Amelia Rowe now married)

1891 Census at Longy Common, Alderney
Henry Rowe (67) B 1824 Farmer B Cornwall
Mary Rowe (66) B 1825 Wife B Devon
William Rowe (25) B 1866 Farmers Son B Alderney
Archibald Sharpe (14) B 1877 Grandson B Alderney
Alice McGuinness (13) B 1878 Granddaughter B Alderney
Isabella Brady (19) B 1872 Boarder, Married B Gosport Hampshire

I am a descendant of George Henry Rowe-buckingham.  It is my understanding that a part of the family dropped the buckingham and became rowe (Matthew rowe) due to a family dispute.  some did emigrate to america/Canada for a time, i am aware of rowe-buckingham's still in america.  there must have been a time before they came to alderney (from Devon/cornwall) where the name became double barrelled but don't know when or how.

I am descended from Emily Rowe Buckingham (Henry's daughter)  She married Archibald Maginnes and eventually moved to Ireland.  Their eldest daughter Alice appears to have remained in Alderney and lived with Henry & Mary.  I haven't as yet traced what happened to her.
There were 2 other children from Henry & Mary : Thomas born 1861 and William 1864.
The famiy orginally lived Holsworthy, Cornwall, where Henry & Mary married in 1843 and their eldest children were born there.  Do you live in Alderney?

Hi we think the American family is Bunter Rowe whom I met many times.
