Taylor family of Bridgnorth
« on: Thursday 05 August 10 12:19 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am researching my great, great grandfather's family and I have hit a stumbling block. This is the information I have so far;

WILLIAM TAYLOR (abt1830-?) was born in Shipton or Buittle in Shropshire. He married a MARY ? (abt1839-?) and had the following children;

1) THOMAS (1857-?)
know nothing about him!

2) JANE (1860-?)
know nothing about her!

3) MARTHA (1862-?)
know nothing about her!

4) WILLIAM (1864-?)
know nothing about him!

5) MARY (1866-?)
know nothing about her!

6) ALICE (1868-?)
know nothing about her!

7) ELIZA (1870-?)
know nothing about her!

8. SAMUEL (1873-1959)
married ALICE SEAWARD and had these children, Sidney Silas, Albert W, Florence M, Walter H, Frank Cyril and Alice Elsie (my great grandmother).

9) ALFRED (1875-?)
know nothing about him!

Can anyone help me with this family? I would like to know what happened to all the children. If anyone can help me with this family I would be very grateful! I would like to know what happened to them all, where they lived, worked, what children they had etc. I would also like to try and find photos of them too if possible.

Kind regards

Emma

I have the family on 1861/71 census

it may be a good idea if you list the p.o.b. as given in census
Then you can look up their birth reg's free BMD

If you follow the children through the census you will have a better idea of where they lived etc

I assume the dates given are maybe baptism dates from IGI ?
If so most probably martha 1860 died - often when a child died in infancy a later child would be given the same name

Do you have access to all census??

I have access to the census records. I have William Taylor and his wife Mary in the 1861 and 1871 census.

I got the estimated birth dates from the census records, I don't know what the IGI is I'm afraid.

Did you know Mmother Mary remarried??

She was a widow in 1881 -and some of the children had left home

1891 she had remarried - Samuel was still homewith her

Do you have this census ???

Could you post what census you have each child on ???

Will be back later - if you manage to trace any of the children in later census please post

If you have birth cert for Samuel that should give mother's maiden name -so then you can find a marriage reg

IGI can be found on FamilySearch.org and had baptisms .marriages etc -not complete

there is also family search pilot site which is worth "playing around with" Try it out -it's free and pretty good

Lower Forge, Eardington, Shropshire    4 rooms

Louisa  Daur  7  Alveley
Ernest C  Son  5  Stottesdon

You need to be aware that Cardington & Eardington seem to be easily confused, especially in census transcriptions   :D
