Thanks Trish, Yes i felt sorry for Nicholas as well,

Now another interesting point, I have not been able to ascertain whether Johns child Nicholas is boy or girl, but later on another descendant has a Nicholas and it becomes a boy.

Thank you for the confirmation of Janets age.  Question, were there two Janets and the first one died, or was the mistake on the Lancashire bmd index.

I did have the marriage of Mary Ann to John Bridge thanks.

Thank you for the info, really appreciate the time taken by all to answer.

It is possible there were 2 Janets and the 1st died. Unfortunately unless you have access to Parish Records you would have to find the Death Cert and purchase it to ascertian Parents Names.
Do you mean a Child of John Milligan born c 1851 has a Child Nicholas?

Yes, James McMurray Milligan, son of John and Nicholas, has a child Nicholas 7 August 1866 born West Derby and christened at
St Mary the Virgin, West Derby I put the child as female, until it was proven otherwise, but suspect she becomes a male.

Yes please trish.  Yes I do have James Wife Alice, they end up in St Helens, as well as tombstones of which we took photos I do have William James as well.  I dont know her children unfortunately, so the census would be a great help.   thanks But as we know with Census, Nicholas, mother of James was put down as Grandfather.  so I will have to organise birth certificate for Nicholas.
I found that Lancashire opc seemed to be more reliable, as longas the writing was transcribed.  Have found Milligans down as Mulligans, which is so easy to do.
