Help with understanding info I have pls
« on: Saturday 02 April 05 17:09 BST (UK) »
Hi Im Rachel

I have been kindly sent this information which I have attached.  I am struggling to make sense of it, and how I can put this information to use.

From the information my gran told me I KNOW:-

JOHN HENRY BEYNON BORN 1898 - I know that he had 3 brothers (Williams Charles, Tom Beynon, & Sydney Evan Beynon who did die young)

I know that their parents were Henry Beynon whos wife was Margaret Killa

Any help/advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Rachx
I would be very interested to hear from any  BEYNONs (Laugharne), Evans (Brynamman), Killa, Goffs/gouchs, Stokes

Hi Rachel,

tried to download your file, but couldn't. must my firewall at work.

Anway, I assume you don't have any more info than you've given us.

You should really start by ordering Henry's birth cert.

Using FreeBMD you could then find the marriage of Henry's parents and order their marriage cert. That would then give you their fathers names. Maybe also their ages.

As they were already married in 1901, you should be able to find them in that census. Working back, you should then be able to find Henry Beynon and Margaret Killa in the 1891 census. I assume by then they were still living at home, hence you will then have the names of their parents (confirmed by the marraige cert) and their siblings. Also the address, which will make it easier to find the parents in the 1881, 71, etc census. And so on it goes. Ordering certificates, looking at census, parish records.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply, yes I see what you mean.  I think I just got so excited to see so many links of the family, it was like a system overload!! lol  I jumped the gun.

What I thought I might do is get all the details/references through the internet, then I think its free? If I go to Library? to confirm the information, instead of spending lots of money ordering certificates.  Am I right?  Is it the library I would be able to see census records?

I noticed williams a few times at the bottom of your message.  If you come across Frankie williams who married Ivy Stokes.  Also an American link, Frankies uncles/cousins  moved there but His parents decided to come home to wales(my grandfather told me he was born on the way back from America on the boat!) dont know how true this is lol  then let me know Thx

Hiya Rach

Census records are kept at either the library or archive office - you will need to check with your local council. There are a lot of free sites but a lot are also pay per view

Heres a couple of useful links to get you started

http://www.freesurnamesearch.com/

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/

http://freecen.rootsweb.com/

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/default.asp

None of these sites are complete transcripts but you might be lucky. You can order certificates directly from the GRO the link is http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ you will need their reference which is supplied on FreeBMD

If you need ancesters searching for in any census just ask - someone is always willing to help on this site

Good luck!

Hi again Rachel,

actually I do have 2 Williams' who left for America. Both are quarrymen from Llanllyfni. One (John) in 1845. He married a Mary Williams. They had 6 children.

The other was William who left at the beginning of the 1900s. His descendants still live in Wisconsin. Sorry, no Franks or Frankies, nor Ivy's. I've got all the names from 1900 onwards, so unless yours were earlier, I don't think we have a connection.

I do have a Rachel Williams in New Zealand though.

All the best,

D

Hi D

To be honest Ive been concentrating on my grans side Beynons from Laugharne, Carms.

Williams is my grandfathers side so I havent really started looking them up.  The info I have got is just what my grandfather has told me to get me started & he was quite vague!!  Who knows perhaps in a FEW YEARS! (when I finish looking up beynons) we will meet again lolol

Rachel hasn't been online since 26 July 05  and her email address is no longer working,it would seem as though she will not be notified that we have posted here.

However you info may well be of use to others researching the same surnames.
