I have had a lot of help through NorwayHeritage from both Jan and Kaysii, who are now contributors on Rootschat. They had traced the ancestors of my Great Grandmother back into the late 1600s.

They are most helpful and worth a try if you have any Norwegian ancestry.

I am sure you, Jan can read the rest better than me but in this it refers to Mrs Marie Martinsen as her daughter and of 3 children who are in New Zealand (it looks as though it says Australia in New Zealand).
Brilliant idea  Jan to follow up the address in the subsequent censuses.

To me the probate record you have found reads (approximately):

Widow Berthe Kristiansen died today, aged 63 at Gjedemyrsv. 7. Leaves behind 6 children, 1 under age, 1 small and 4 adult. 3 of the children are here, 3 in Australia in New Zealand. The four adult children are from an earlier marriage. the death is reported by the daughter, wife Marie Martinsen who stated that there were small children from the second marriage.

Here is a Norway connection that happened long before I was aware that I had any ancestors from Norway.

In 1975 I was the General manager of the Musi-o-Tunya Intercontinental Hotel in Livingstone, nestled alongside the famous Victoria Falls.

We often had heads of state and important dignatories staying. This time the Prime Minister of Norway, Trygve Bratteli visited with the Prime Minister of Zambia, Mainza Chona and were hosted by me as General Manager. Here I am escorting them to their meeting room and the restaurant.

My mistake -  I can't seem to locate who was the great help in uncovering my Olsen ancestry -  but whoever it was was, like you and kaysii, most helpful.

Cool picture of you and former prime minister Trygve Bratteli, did you know he was a "Nacht und Nebel" prisoner in a Nazi Consentration Camp during WW2?
