The question was also asked on your other thread-

As Shane explained, you need to search for church records for births before 1864.

Unfortunately, to find church records you need to have a location where the family lived in Ireland (parish if not actual townland) since there could be more than one Patrick Deegan with father named Robert born in Co. Wexford around the same period.

When the info ain't there it's down to basic research. Look at what info is available.

In the 1901 census he's 40, in 1911 he's 53. Your initial baptisim search range should therefore be 1858 - 1861. But in what area? Start by looking at where the majority of Wexford Deegans are located.

In the 1901 census there were 31 Deegans living in Co Wexford. Of the 11 Deegans aged 37 plus (ie, all the older Deegans) 5 are from the New Ross area - almost 50%.

So if I was you I would begin by requesting a look up on the New Ross Baptisms. The baptisims between 1841 - 1870 are on microfilm No 4260 which can be viewed at the local library or the National Library.

I dont think Pearse St. Library in Dublin has parish records for Wexford. They do have Civil records (so would include births from 1864) and parish records for Dublin City.

RC records for all of Ireland are available in the National Library, Kildare St. See the index of microfilms they hold at : www.nli.ie/en/parish-register.aspx  In an earlier post (Reply #5) shorts mentioned a film number for records in the New Ross area.
