Remarriage of a widow, 1811
« on: Saturday 02 April 05 22:59 BST (UK) »
Charles Veale and Elizabeth Retallack were both widowed when they married each other in Falmouth in 1811.  I've found Charles' first marriage, in 1802.  However, would Elizabeth have been married in 1811 in her maiden name or previous married name?  I can find a marriage of Elizabeth Retallack in 1795 in the right place, to John Tamlin, but that's all.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Hi Suttontrust

She "should" have married in her then married name so she should have been  Elizabeth ............. who married a Mr RETTALLACK.

It's probably worth getting the original marriage checked out if you can just to make sure that there's not been an error in the indexing.

I'm pretty sure about the 1811 marriage - she's Elizabeth Retallack, w. (as you may remember from a previous posting with the image!).  I was looking for a Retallack marrying an Elizabeth in the right place before 1811, but could only come up with another Elizabeth Retallack.  Still, I'm not even certain what the right place is.
