Matt,  Hope this reaches you OK. I see you have the REAY name connection like me! Where are you with your research. I have quite an extensive lineage in Northumberland with plenty of connections for the REAY name. One line of our resesearch has got back from a REAY/CHARLTON marriage all the way back to William the Conqueror and therefore theoretically to Charlemagne. I live in West Wickham, Kent but I was born in Gateshead. Been down here since 1961

I have a Reay marrying into my Tannahill family. This Reay family were North of England but mainly North West/Cumberland area. The author Reay Tannahill is in this branch.
Tannahill:  Ayrshire, Renfrewshire
Mulgrew/Milgrew:  Glasgow
Canning: Renfrewshire

My Reay is ISABEL 1747 Morpeth who married Thomas PURDY 15 Dec 1771
Her Parents appear to be John/Dorothy Reay, Dorothy nee ORANGE who married 1742 Morpeth

Hi, this may not be relevant but here goes.
I had a confusing section of my Winn/Wind family line where there was a Barbara Rae married to a Wind. Anyways, the point is, we all thought it was Rae, but the name was infact Reay n the Durham, UK region.
