You get a car insurance renewal form through the post and find that is second best and much less important to a birth cert you are anxiously awaiting for.

You get annoyed intensely by glaring errors in Anc trees. People born to parents who totally different surnames and maiden names, or to parents who died 100 years before.

When you're doing a course on Futurelearn and you've worked out the ancestry of Chris's 'Maria' just because she came from Dundee!  :-[

You type in a surname into a new search database for a certain surname and only get results from a family of that surname you have come across many times before and have no known connection to.

I Googled addiction and found-

"Addiction is a condition that results when a person ingests a substance (e.g., alcohol, cocaine, nicotine) or engages in an activity (e.g., gambling, sex, shopping) that can be pleasurable but the continued use/act of which becomes compulsive and interferes with ordinary life responsibilities, such as work, ..."

As I do not ingest genealogy I can rule that part out which just leaves the "engages in..."

Now as I have never know life without family history (it formed part of my education and development as an infant) it cannot interfer with ordinary life, therefore I can confidentially state I am not addicted to genealogy it is simply part of my ordinary life and responsibilities.

You know you're addicted to genealogy when Rootschat is your "go to" website, morning noon and the middle of the night!

I also put surnames and/or place names into the wee Rootschat search box- usually only found my own posts!

Me too.... I get excited that some results have shown up, then realise it was me ;D

In other news, I've spent my week off work writing some extra code for my self-written family tree programme so that it accepts entries from the 1939 register. I've not been out much.
