hi
I'm looking for information on Daniel james Mackay his parents were kenneth and Margaret (macdonald) they were married in 1836 I think Durness
they had I am told 8 children. Kenneths parents were Donald and Sybella(thomson)
Daniel left scotland for new zealand in 1872 with at least one of his brothers
his parents followed 5 years later
they settled in wendon southland new zealand
I have found donald and sybella's details in the Durness parish register including the births of their children
daniels brother Donald married barbara sutherland I have been unable to find any marriage and birth details they too moved to new zealand sometime in the 1870's
I'm also having trouble with finding his grand father Donald Mackay's lineage before he married Sybella Thomson
I think he was born in 1779 Skinet Farr but not sure if thats the right Donald

Hi Vicky,
Are you still interested in the MacKay family. A lot of time has passed. Revisiting after years and years.
Also a New Zealand descendant helping out a few others and pooling information.
Cheers,
