Hi there,
I understand that there was an area of Horsham called BRAVERY, does anyone have any knowledge of this please?

Hi Jane

I recently did some ‘rescue archaeology’ in St Mary Churchyard, Horsham as they were extending the church and needed to remove some of the graves / tombs prior to building. It is a legal requirement to record all tombstones before moving and this is what I did, survey, photograph and transcribe monuments before removal.

To help with the transcriptions, I was supplied with a very basic survey done in 1952 by Donald Slyfiels; included in which was the following:

No 548   BRAVERY Richard, 17th April 1851, aged 72 years.

It may come in handy one day.

Sorry, but I do not have any info on ancient Horsham

Thanks Chris,
You kindly sent me that information a few months ago and it's been squirelled away for future reference.
I've been in contact with Sue Djabri from the Horsham History Society and she's never heard of Bravery as a place name and she's a bit of a guru about all things from Horsham, so if she doesn't know...... :)

Jane

Oopps - sorry, didnt mean to repeat myself.

My apologies, can only think that my brain must have been having an off day yesterday.

I knew sooner or later with some 1100 postings that I would repeat myself one day.

No problem Chris.  You should get a medal for all the help you give people :)
I only wish I was doing research in the Hastings area, I think, with your help, I would have solved all problems ages ago :)
