I have had a quick look at the 1911 census but I can't give details here.  there is an Eric William b 1903 residential place Nottingham, with what looks like a father William and possible mother Emma.

So looking in freebmd

Marriage
Dec 1895 district Melton M, vol 7a page 585
William May and a possible spouse is Emma Padmore.    (rings a bell    :)  )

I haven't got a sub to ancestry at the moment, but other people have.  William was b in 1873 and Emma in 1876.

Also there's a Christobel in the line-up born 1899.

I think you may be on your way with this line too.

I think Elsie Ada May b 1898 might have married Herbert Ledger in 1917.   Look for yourself in freebmd.  Click the page number for spouses.

Thanks Silvery. I have gone on the website you recommended and have found the records. In addition I have found that Elsie and Herbert had a son, Kenneth Ledger in May 1921 which ties in with Aunt Chrissie. However I am confused as I thought Ken was Aunt Chrissie's son but he was actually Elsie's son  :-\

Emma Padmore must be the one I'm looking for - mother to my Grandfather. I now need to trace her family.

I will try the surname search to see if it's there but when I clicked on a surname before it didn't do anything at all. I will try again. Thanks  :)

No Padmores on surname search  :'(

I found Emma's birth in Sept listings for year 1875 in Melton Mowbray ref 7a page 283. There is nothing to say about parents though, how do I get her parent's names? Obviously her dad is Padmore but no idea as to first name or wife's name  ???
