Butler/Cahill of Co Kildare
« on: Thursday 19 August 10 20:49 BST (UK) »
This is a long shot: George Butler married Marcella Cahill at Crookstown Catholic church, Co Kildare, Ireland in 1864 and had three children, Martin, Bridget and Mary before disappearing from the records in 1870. They lived at Ballymount, Co Kildare and I have noticed many went to Australia from that district. Are these names familiar to anyone?

Many thanks.

Hi

I am currently researching this Butler Cahill Kelly line, I have a DNA match to this line, I am a Butler and my Butlers come from Wexford, Laois and Dublin, the DNA match is Autosomal DNA so may come from anyone in this line however, I am not so overburdened with Butler clues that I can overlook this clue.

I have George Butler's marrige to Marcella Cahill in Ballymount (Suncroft) it appears Marcella died and George remarried a Catherine Gorman nee Owens .

I would be very intrested to hear from you

Regards Peter Butler

It is years since I did any research with this family but after that I discovered the Butler/Cahill family came to County Durham close to where my great-grandfather lived and had two more children (I have certificates) then Marcella must have died, I don't know where only George Butler resurfaced back in Kildare when he married widow with more children so there must have been a house full!

For others who are researching on the internet and might like to see the link, here's the marriage in 1879. Both are living in Maddenstown (four townlands).  :)
