Hi Alice

I am reliably informed that Kensington Place and George Street are one and the same place.

George Street was the original name but was a "red light" district. Changing its name was an attempt to up-grade the area!

Hi Stewart

Can I ask you once again to assist me? Can you check for a marriage for William Restorick please.

William Restorick married Elizabeth Jane Price, their first child was born in 1858 in Altrincham, Cheshire.  They then travelled all over England before coming to Scotland but I have been unable to find their marriage on findmypast.com, ancestry.com  etc.

On the 1851 Census for Jersey William is listed as a seaman and I cant help wondering how he ended up in Altrincham as there is no port near there.

Alice

Hi Alice

Well the short answer is nothing! I've looked through all the marriages from 1851 to 1861 and cannot see anything remotely likely.

I had a look at the Jersey Seamans Pension Fund and can see a James (his brother from Dorset?) but not a William. This doesn't mean he wasn't a seaman but that he wasn't on a Jersey registered ship.

Hi Stewart

Once again thank you for your time and effort it really is appreciated.  Finding William and Elizabeth's marriage record is proving ellusive and I think this brings the Jersey research to an end.

William and Elizabeth however, had over 40 years together and 7 out of 9 children who survived  into adulthood and their line continues to the present day.  But without your help I would always be wondering what happened to his parents and siblings.  Thanks again!

regards

Alice
