Elijah Brown Burton

Hi,

Iam hoping someone might be able to clear the mystery surrounding this person.
Elijah Brown Burton was born during the June quarter of 1890 in Sunderland.

He therefore should be on the 1891 census, but I cannot find him - can anybody trace him?

He is on the 1901 census living with the Jensen family in Outram Street, Sunderland. He is listed as:
Elijah B Barton, born about 1891 in Sunderland and is an 'adopted son'

Hans Jensen (spelt Hant) on the census was born about 1856 in Denmark (although it is mistranscribed as being Denbighshire, Wales), however, his wife, Dorothy,was born about 1860 in Sunderland. All their children were also born in Sunderland.

I suspect that Elijah may be connected to Dorothy somehow, but Iam unable to find a marriage between her and Hans.

The couple were together in 1891, although Elijah was not with them then.

Can anybody trace Elijah in 1891, or even find a marriage between Hans and Dorothy!

Any help would be much appreciated!!

I guess the easiest way to sort out where he fits in would be to get his birth cert.
