In the 1881 census, which is free, there is an Alice Hunt born in Guernsey 1864 living with her family in Lancashire. Her mother is Caroline (widowed)

In 1871 the family are in Hampshire

George  41                       Norfolk
Caroline 29                       Essex
James   10
Mary C    8
Alice M C 7
George T 5
Alfred W  3
Henry E   6 months

All children except the last 2 born in Guernsey

Hi all  :)

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch shows her christening:

Alice Maud Charlotte Hunt, 30 Dec 1863 Guernsey
parents George Hunt and Caroline Swan

(Channel Islands Births and Baptisms database)

FreeBMD finds a marriage for Caroline Swan to possibly George Hunt, Jun 1859, Gravesend 2a 402

she was my hero!
And mine!!  :D

In 1871 Caroline's birth place is East Tilbury

1851
HO107/1773 228 4
East Tilbury Essex

Thomas Swan, head, 35, Ag lab, b. Bowers Gifford
Mary, wife, 34, b. Little Burstead
Caroline, dau, 9, b. East Tilbury
Charlotte Emma, dau, 4, b. do.
William, son, 2, b. do.
Louisa Augusta, dau, 11 mo, b. do.

I'm not having any luck finding George and Caroline in 1861, or George on any census at all before 1871. Their son James was christened in the Channel Islands in 1860, so I was expecting to find them there in 1861 but draw a blank. It seems George was in the Army - in 1871 his occupation is Hooter(?) at Factory and Chelsa Pensioner. Birth place is Swardeston Norfolk.

The pilot familysearch site finds:
Christening George Hunt, 14 April (or 14 September) 1828 Swardeston, parents James Hunt and Mary
There's also a marriage for James Hunt and Mary (Moore), on 27 May 1828.
