Lewis Family
« on: Sunday 22 August 10 17:19 BST (UK) »
I am a beginner to rootschat though I have been working on my family tree for sometime.

So if anyone has information on the family before John Lewis born in 1813 I would be very interested

I have tracked my family back to Maiden Newton in Dorset but then, I cannot find Lewis's further back.

I have found links to the Lacey, Fone, Groves and Buckler families.

Fone was interesting as my great-grandmother is shown on my grandmothers birthcert. as Sophia Vawn.

Of course I thought this was an error meaning Vaughn but no, my wife checked all the Sophia's born in  Maiden newton and found the Fone family in parish records..

I think it makes sense if you say Fone with a dorset accent.

All part of the reality of hunting family history.
