I recommend you start with the marriage certs to establish father's name - otherwise you could easily end up following the wrong family lines

for orderng certs ete , see the topic - Introduction to Irish Records

Hi both! So many thanks I've ordered Cornelius and Mary's marriage cert from merthyr. That's great.

I've printed of a form to apply for Ellen and Patricks marriage cert from Ireland.

Ellen Wren as Shane said there is a Baptism listed father JS Wren mother Mary Brinane

Oh well done!

When you have those fathers' names it will help you to get back a bit further, I hope.

good luck

Can't thank you 2 enough.  It's knowing where to look...
For my own family on my dad's side it seems the books on the Rosslare and Wiexford lifeboats may help me. I did come across the grandson of the other lifeboat man, Bill Duggan in the dinghy with my ancestor who rescued the men of the Mexico of the Keeragh rocks, sadly his e-mail address had changed so I couldn't contact him.  I did see there are plenty of Walshs Wickhams still on the lifeboat today maybe they are related?
