1820 Irvine Census
« on: Thursday 26 August 10 01:01 BST (UK) »
LDS records show the 1820 census is avaliable for Irvine in Ayrshire which includes name of family head, age, occupation, and religion, but I'm not sure where to go about finding it; can't find it on the NAS catalogue.

Has anyone consulted this before and know anything further about it?

The 1820 Census of Irvine was transcribed by Troon & Ayrshire FHS and is available on paper or microfiche.
Details on their website at: http://www.troonayrshirefhs.org.uk/

Sometimes a local minister made his own unofficial census of his parish before the official censuses began in 1841. For Ayrshire, two such censuses are available on-line for Stevenston (if I remember correctly they were about 1819 and 1837).

Hello,

I am looking for the names of Rankin/Rankine, Nicholson and McConnell on the Irvine Census 1820 and wonder if you can help?

The Troon Family History Society have not been processing orders for their publications since the start of Coronovirus and I am now looking for another way to access the Census records.

Thank you in advance for any help.
