I didnīt realise this thread had been updated with the photographs.  Is there any chance I could have photocopies of the photos sent to me.  Tried to print them with no joy.  I have got the family photo and the advertisements but would love the portraits.

I would confirm George Ernest Castle did have ginger hair known as Ginger Castle (my grandfather)

Hello, I have stumbled across your page.
I have been looking up my Castle ancestors, they came from Lenton, Nottingham.
I didn't realise there were so many around Nottingham, I've got back to 1771 with a George Castle being born.
He married Sarah Langsdale in 1791.

What kind of carriages did the Castle family make.

Yours faithfully

Welcome.  I have a booklet called Memories of Worksop and the Dukeries.  In this there is an advertisement for Castle & Sons, Posting and Funeral Carriage Establishment in Victoria Square, Worksop.

A Superior Open French Hearse, Mourning Coaches, and Private Broughams (whatever that was)
Large Shillibier, Small Shillibier and Cabs for Childrenīs Funerals with Black or Grey Horses

Party & Wedding Carriages.

Hope this is of interest.

Hello, I am interested in finding out if my Castle branch which came from Lenton, Nottingham, are any relation to the carriage building branch ?
Apparently my branch spelt their name surname Castles.
I've got a George Castles born 14th July 1771, he married a Sarah Longsdale on the 3rd April 1791.

I realise this is quite an old post but thought I would try anyway! I have a slightly different branch of Castles in Lincolnshire and would love to know if anyone has any information on them. My Grandfather was Arthur Spencer Castle born in Grantham in !882. His father was Thomas Castle born 1847 also born in Grantham and his father was also Thomas Castle born 1809 in Grantham. The next Thomas Castle (my 3xg grandfather) was supposedly born in Gipple in 1771.  Most of these Thomas' wer butchers and farmers, they were also connected with St Wulfram as church wardens etc. I do have quite a lot of information on siblings and descendants but can't quite see how this family is connected to other Castles in Lincs. Can anyone help?

Hi there, I think they may all be connected.  Most of my ancestors were Tom Castle rather than Thomas.  Do you have any Herrods way back in your family tree?

Not that I know of yet. I go back to Thomas Castle born 1771 in Gipple/Syston. He died in Grantham in 1853. I have failed to find much about his roots, the page in the Syston records has been cut! He was married to Sarah Porter in 1804 and they had 4 children, Sarah, Catherine, Thomas and Ann. Sarah married Geirge Trolley, Catherine married William Wand, Thomas was my ancestor and Ann married John Sampson Wells. I have followed all of these families through as far as possible but have no clues to Thomas's parentage.
