Crothers family
« on: Saturday 28 August 10 16:10 BST (UK) »
Looking some help in tracing the Crothers family.
They all originated in Northern Ireland and moved to Michigan.
I have found them on the 1930  census but thats it.

William John Crothers
his wife Agnes (nee Currie/Curry)
Their children
Mary Elizabeth
Aggie Jane
Sarah (Sadie)
Ellen
I found their sister Margaret Kenney married to Moses Kenney and on her obituary in 1952 it reads survived by her 4 sisters:
Mrs George H Hall, Detroit, Mrs KEnneth McLennan, Grosse Point, Mrs Frank Millar, Detroit & Mrs Francis Sullivan, Grosse Point.
There were also 2 sons  William James & Joseph Ivan. I have found their death records but don't know if they married etc.
Anyone with any information would be appreciated by their family in Northern Ireland.

Hi Turbonator

I can see William John, Agnes, Sarah, Ellen William James and Joseph crossing the border from Canada in May 1929.
The family name is given as REA (Known as CROTHERS)
This immigration list provides birth places, last known residence, where they are headed, etc.
Do you need this, or are you looking for post-1930 information?
The 1930 census is the most recent one available for the USA.

On the 1930 Census some of the children you mention don't appear - so some must have come independantly.

1930 Census Grosse Pointe Farms, Wayne, Michigan

William Crothers 52 Immigrated 1929
Agnes Crothers 49 Immigrated 1929
Agnes Crothers 28 Immigrated 1927
William Crothers 14 Immigrated 1929
Ivan Crothers 7 Immigrated 1929

I have found all the family members on census forms and I have most of the information on Margaret Kenney. I'm just trying to find what happened to the other members of this family after 1930 & 1952.
Ie when they died and where they are buried but thanks to all who have replyed.

Dates of births are always useful to help us search  ???

Perhaps a RAOGK volunteer in Oakland County and Macomb County where Joseph Ivan and William died could find Obituaries for them which could give you a lead as to where they are buried and who they both married and families they may have had.
