BROWN and SMITH/SMYTH BELFAST
« on: Tuesday 05 April 05 02:01 BST (UK) »
Any information for these families would be appreciated.

Thomas Brown (father Archibald Brown)
married  1831 Belfast Rosemary Street Presbyterian Church
Ann Smith  (father Charles Smith/Smyth)

Thomas and Ann are said to have died between 1837 and 1857 but have had no luck finding deaths or burials.

Their children  (Rosemary Street Presbyterian)
                      Thomas born 1833(went to Australia)
                      Archibald        1835    ?
                      Ann                 1837    ?
All advise on where to look or what to do next, welcome.

Thanks
Therese

Hello Therese,

What is your location ? It is hard to advise you where to search or what to do next without knowing where you have been searching for a record of the deaths and burials of Ann and Thomas.

If you are in the north of Ireland have you tried the records of the Rosemary Street Presbyterian Church ? If you are not in the north of Ireland has someone tried those records on your behalf ?

Was Thomas Jnr the only member of the family who emigrated ?  If the whole family emigrated you need to know where they lived in Australia and do the search there.

Best Wishes,    Christopher

Thankyou, Christopher

I'm in New Zealand so research is limited. Am awaiting a Belfast directories film at our Latter Day Saints.

I have searched the gravestone inscription books for Shankill, Milltown, Friars Bush
and the New Burying Ground. I need to go back to the Shankill one for the Smith
family as I didn't have their name when I searched that.
Have joined  AncestryIreland and gathered a little information there.

I had a kind person who was going to look at the Rosemary Street records but never heard back.

Thomas Jnr was the only family member on the boat he emigrated on in 1853. We have reason to believe Archibald emigrated to New Zealand sometime before 1865 but have no proof it was the Archibald Brown from this family. I have the details
of the family in Australia.

Thanks
Therese

Any chance there might be a linke to Esther Brown (fc 30 Dec 1804: father Alexander Brown and mother Sarah Ferguson).  Esther Brown married Joseph Hudson 1825.

Sorry,no known connection to a Alexander or Esther Brown.

The only known christian names I have are Archibald, father who died before 1831,
his son Thomas who died before 1857. And Thomas' known children;Thomas b 1833
Archibald b.1835 and Ann b.1837
