Rachel Barrett

Hi, I am after any info in regards to Rachel Barrett born 15 May 1918 in Arkansas to Horace? Barrett and Rosie (unknown maiden name). She died on the 22 March 2006. Her parents had other children who were born in Texas (Luther, Ruby, Lottie May, James and John) There may have aso been a child caled Obera but she may have died young, info was gathered from the 1920 and 1930 US Census.
I've been told she married 3 times.  First marriage was to ^(*), they had 3 children (^(*)).
2nd marriage was to ^(*), they had 2 children (^(*))
3rd marriage was to ^(*) Phillips. I don't know the dates that they married or divorced. I am particulary interested in her mothers maiden name and fathers name. Thanks.

I can't find the family you're referring to on a quick check of the census records, but there are a number of vital records for Arkansas and other states here - http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#  Maybe you can find Rachel's parents?

Do you have an obituary for her?  Sometimes they will include parents' names.  As the Social Security Death Index says her last residence was Midland City, Dale Co., Alabama, that would probably be a good place to look and there is a volunteer in Dale Co. on www.raogk.org who does look-ups.

If that option doesn't work, you can order her original Social Security application, which should have parents' names including mother's maiden name.   This explains how to do it - http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~rwguide/lesson10.htm

The family is living in Precinct 6, Nacogdoches Co., Texas in 1930.  "Bessie" (Rosie) is widowed.

There is a family tree stating Rachel's parents were
Lonnie Barrett and Rosie.
Lonnie's parents supposedly were William Jefferson Barrett and Permelia Jennie Barnes

Thanks for that. I have the Census for 1920 and 1930. The 1920 Census has a Horace Barrett living at the same address and in 1930 he is not there, she is residing with Port L Cook who I believe passed in 1997 and her grandson has informed me she was always known to him as Rosie Cook.

"A" Horace Lonnie Barrett died 10 Sept 1940 at Garrison, Nacogdoches, Texas.
Parents were Jeff (William Jefferson) and Jennie nee Barnes both born in Virginia.
He was divorced.
