im sorry if any of this is confusing below i will do my best to try and explain,

my father was harry davies b 1946 manchester died 2004
his father was also harry davies born march 1922 manchester with parents
thomas davies. annie davies/jones/davies as on his birth certificate, harry senior married isabella cox in 1952 and according to  that his father was harry davies!!! a stone quarryman,

i have searched and searched and cant find anything about this man at all

can anyone help please

Its confused me as well lol.
Does this mean that Harry snr married twice? Or
in those days one of the popular names was
Thomas Henry so Harry could have been used as
his name but maybe he had to put his first known name
down instead?
Just suggestions. 
I did look on Lancashire BMD but cant find either the births
or the marriage for some reason.
Maybe someone else might have a better idea for you

Is it the third Harry Davies you're looking for?  On the 1901 census I've found a family where both the father and a son are called Harry Davies - which does seem to be a theme here!  They're at 1 Holly Cottages, Meole Brace nr Shrewsbury  RG13/2541/~F59

Eliza Davies age 31 wife born Guilsfield, Montgomeryshire
Harold G Davies age 2 son born Meole Brace
Richard Griffiths age 72 father in law born Shrewbury

You say Snr married COX in 1952. But Jnr was born in 1946?

Are your father's parents both deceased?
Are you 100% certain you have the correct birth for your grandfather (1922)?
And the correct marriage for your grandfather (1952)?

Not asking you to name names (privacy) but did you father have any siblings - in which case would be interesting to know what their marriages said about their father, especially good to check if he had an older and a younger sibling.

What was the  father's occupation on both the 1922 and 1946  Birth certs?

oh heres my thoughts and findings so far,

that my grandads dad, could they have been brothers?

my grand dad harry's mum (annie) it appears that she was born a davies, then married a jones, then either split up with mr jones or he died and she either reverted to her maiden name or married thomas???

the only entry i can find for annie jones marying a harry davies was in 1944 but i dont know if either thats the right couple or if it was thomas as in harry thomas or thomas harry (henry) or what ever shortened version it could be!!!!!

yeah im confused big time i know!!!

the way its looking at the moment is that i will have to wait for 20 yrs for the cencus to appear for the right time frame.

only other thing to go on was that on grand dad harries wedding certificate it states his father harry was a stone quarryman,

Have you got Thomas and Annie's death dates to give us an idea of when they were born?
