Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

A little tip if you use Rootschat for help, give as much information as you already know, it helps not to go over old ground as it were and if you have any family badger them for information as well

Happy Hunting

It was just an accident waiting to happen. After using various sites for family members but none on a particular relative I hoped to find, I typed their name directly into a search engine with year of death, bob's your uncle (or not) and here I arrived. Great find.

I was searching for information on my family ancestry. I had searched for my grandfathers parents information on the Swanbourne history and found that they were from Padbury. His father was Frederic Biddlecombe and mother Alice Vera Holdom. My grandfathers name is John Frederic Biddlecombe

I was looking for a way to find records from my fiancé's maternal side of the family (all in Germany) and this site came up as a good way to find help with records.

I was looking for help on Romany surnames and came across a thread on here where one of my great uncles was mentioned on a "London Romany hawkers" list. It helped solved the mystery as to whether or not my great-grandmother had Romany heritage, which has always been a long topic of debate in my family! I've found the site very useful, especially for lookups and identifying brick walls in my family tree (particularly my paternal side, as I never knew my father, so didn't have anything apart from my father's name and surname to go on).
Ireland: Collins, Shinnick, Mahony, Fitzpatrick, Deady, Leary, Murphy, Carroll, Brien, McCarthy

England (Romany): Ellis, Young, Smith, Knight, Lanskford, Davey, Boswell, Throughgood, Cocket, Tolley, Lovell, Harris, Brown

Scotland: McGhie, Laurie, Douglass, Alston, Calderhead, Weir, Mcashlan

France: Dulieu, Rouviere, Correge, Chauderon, Tixier, Gilbert, Perrot, Galipeau, Besnard

Germany & Holland: Van Slyk, Van Vranken, Hansz, Kernin, Ohrendorff, Peltzer, Heyn, Getman
