Adam WOODROFFE Wilsford 1795.

Hi' everyone
Adam Woodroffe was born 1795 to John and Sarah Woodroffe nee' Roman in the Wilsford area. In 1819 he married Hester/Esther Wells and and  they had George 1820, Robert 1822, Sarah 1824, Elizabeth 1826, Robert 1828 and Phoebe 1831.
Hester remarried in 1833 to Uzziah (v) Sealey and went on to extend her family, BUT! please can anyone help with what happened to Adam Woodroffe.
We have been unable to find any info' via the net and live to far away to visit Wiltshire itself in the hope of finding something.

I found all the info you have on IGI pilot site, which I guess is where you found it, but although my guess is that Adam died, as his wife re-married I can't find a death.  I did think perhaps he and his wife had just gone their separate ways so looked for a death on the normal BMD but no luck.

You could always try Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre www.wshc.eu.  Genuki site www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/WIL/church.htm gives info about what records the history centre holds.

Thanks for the reply.  Obviously at some stage Adam died but whether it was between 1831-1833 or later is the big question as we can't find a death either.

I'm descended from Hester Wells via her second marriage to Uzziah/Hosea Sealey and every time I go the the Wiltshire Heritage Centre I check another parish for Adam's burial, so far to no avail 

I'm in touch with a descendant of Adam's and we've been chasing this one for a long time - so if you find it before we do, we'd love to know 

As far as we know, Adam lived all his life in Wilsford, as did his family. He should have been buried there, but he wasn't. A fact that might or might not be connected is that Uzziah/Hosea abandoned his family on 15 May 1832 for no stated reason. During his absence, his wife died. From October 1832 probably to January 1833 he was in prison. By December, he was married to Hester. Were he and Adam involved in something together that went wrong? Adam would have to be known to be dead for his wife to remarry as it was certainly a lot less than 7 years....

I checked newspapers for 1830 to 1833 and also prison records such as they are. I haven't looked for him in the asylum though so have made a note to check that when I next got the the record office  Clutching at straws here....
