Hi Melm,  :)

There are two births on FreeBMD, both in the correct registration district and fitting the dates you've mentioned.

Birth, Dec qtr 1892
Walter Gray
Beverley, Vol 9d, page 108

Birth, Jun qtr 1893
Walter Gray
Beverley, Vol 9d, page 119

Have a look at this and see what you think, Cherry Burton is only approximately 1 mile from Etton :

George W Gray, h. wdr, 29, Farmer, b. Arram
Walter, son, 7, b. Cherry Burton

Kind regards,

Pels.

Although it is unlikely there is a direct connection, my grandfather and great grandfather were both Walter Gray, born in York.  My great grandfather was born on the 16 October 1863 and my grandfather on 28 November 1900.  I don't have a lot of information dating before my GGF except I was told that they migrated from Scotland a generation or two prior.  Walter Gray Snr married Alice Martha Cooper on 9 July 1887 and they had five children, Stanley, Walter, Agnes, Alice and Gladys.  Stanley had one son, also Stanley.  Agnes died as a young woman of a heart defect, Alice didn't marry and Gladys married Robert Robinson.  If there is any connection to your family, I would love to hear from you.
