Canadian births and baptisms
« Reply #10 on: Sunday 16 May 10 20:29 BST (UK) »
I just discovered the wealth of Canadian resources listed here, and thought I'd add mine to the list, as well as ask for help making it better.

I have  been working on a guide to free online international birth and baptismal records, indexes and transcriptions for about a year now, and there is a special page there for Canada with free online Canadian birth and baptism resources.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~thecohens/birthindexes-ca.html

So far, we  have entries for Alberta, British Columbia,  Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.

But we  have found no free birth or baptismal index, announcement, or transcription sites thus far for  Northwest Territories, Nunavut,  or the Yukon.

I am on dialup, so surfing around to locate more resources presents a major challenge, and  suggestions of any more free sites with birth announcement or index  transcriptions you know of for Canada, that we may have missed, would be appreciated.

Thanks!

LAC have recently put up a new entry on their microform digitization: WWI veterans' death cards.
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/microform-digitization/index-e.html

These are not for men who died in WWI; these are cards for veterans who died in Canada, where Veteran Affairs was notified of their death.  The few I flicked through had deaths from 1920 to 1962, and give death date/place of death and some also have place of burial/next of kin.
