Hi PTA
I have Ellen Rider who married William George Albert Samways in 1913.  According to his army records they had two children William John b. 1914 in Wimbourne and Violet Mary b.1916 in Poole.  Any relation??

Hi, I have a william samways who married "Nell" Rider ( I assume this is the same lady) . William was the brother of my grandmother Edith samways and my great aunt Winifred samways. I didnt have a date for the marriage on my family tree but they had 7 children!John (known as Jack), 1914, May 1916(mum of my second cousins Pamela and Marilyn).Doris 1920, Tom 1921, Ivy 19..?, Charles 1927, and Mary 1933.I have a photo of william with edith and winifred I think. I will have a look and scan it and then I send it to you if you would like? I have now checked my photos and scanned two onto an A4 sheet. one is William in his uniform and the other is william (top left) Edith bottom left. Martha (mother of all three), unknown man top right and winifred bottom right. Let me know if you would like me to send it to you

Oh part time - I would love you to.  What a lovely family.  I have some information about the Rider family if you would like it but sadly no photographs.  I got the information about William from the his army records on Ancestry.  I'm not sure how you would be related to my husband  - a few cousins I expect.

My x2 great grandmother Mary Ann Samways b. 22 feb 1817 Beaminster Dorset England died 15 April  1910, Nelson New Zealand. Married William Dement b.11 Jan 1815 Beaminster died 19 Aug 1900 Nelson New Zealand.
Are there any family connections of Mary Ann or William still in Dorset or here in New Zealand.

My interest in this thread is that I had read Samways is a name peculiar to Dorset, yet I knew a family by that name in Doncaster. I wonder when they went up there?
