Hilder confusion in Mountfield
« on: Tuesday 07 September 10 06:56 BST (UK) »
I have conflicting information regarding Thomas Hilder who married Mary Kemp on 2 Sept 1791 in Mountfield SSX.   I have two scenarios ???
Firstly I have Thomas (b. 28 Jan 1770 in Mountfield) as being the son of Thomas Hilder (b. 9 Jun 1745 in Beckley, SSX) and Hannah Miller (b. c1750 Mountfield, SSX). They married 29 Sept 1769 in Mountfield.
Next I have Thomas (b. 17 Nov 1768 in Guestling, SSX) as being the son of Edward Hilder (chr. 4 Aug 1743 Salehurst, SSX) and Sarah Goreham who married 28 Oct 1768 in Guestling.
If possible can someone please advise as to which Thomas married Mary?

Also, can I please have a look-up for Ann Hilder b.14 Jun 1755? Was she the daughter of Thomas Hilder and Mary Stace? She married John Funnell on 2 Nov 1780 in Mountfield and died 12 Nov 1824 in Mountfield. I think!!

Regards, Alison  :)

Hi Alison,
The Hilders are in my family tree and some yeas ago I was sent a lot of info on them. I hope I do not confuse you more and am not sure if accurate yet.
I have a Edward Hilder who was the brother of Thomas Hilder who married Mary Kemp their parents being Thomas and Hannah. This Thomas born 1745 was the son of John Hilder and Elizabeth Neeves. This John born abt 1710 was the brother of Thomas Hilder who married Mary Stace and it looks like they had Edward born abt 1743 and Ann born abt 1755.
If this is the line you are looking for I can take you back further just let me know.

Hi Sue,

Your Hilders are my, or should I say my husband's Hilders. You've tied two branches together for me. I didn't have enough information to tie John(Elizabeth Neeves) with Thomas(Mary Stace) and I didn't have record of Edward c1743.
Any other info would be gratefully received.

Regards, Alison :D

Hi Alison,
I finally found the site I got this info from.  Just google Edward Hilder 1743 go to Names Index Page when it comes up and all the Hilders are in there. You just scroll down to Hilder and click on any name you are interested in and to follow the ancestors back click on the fathers name. It is a good site and has many surnames.  Have fun with it.

Hi,

I've been looking along the same family line, the site you mentioned was fantastic!  Thanks so much for sharing.  I can't believe I've gone back to 1510!  15 generations and counting!

Sam
