John CORBETT of Cranbourne Victoria
« on: Tuesday 07 September 10 08:02 BST (UK) »
I'm hoping some wonderful people can find this man for me.

He is the son of Richard Corbett and Mary Hardman who lived at Kilmore Station in the parish of Sherwood - Cranbourne.

John, according to his fathers death certificate in 1865, is still alive and aged 34. He is not listed on his father's will although the other children who are still alive are listed.

According to a document from Casey Council, it was proposed that a new road be named Corbett Road after promenent early settlers Richard and John Corbett.

I havent found a marriage or a death for John Corbett in Victoria. Any information about John would be most welcome.

The Corbett family emigrated from Wiltshire, England around 1839.

Thank you in advance, cheers Ted

Hi Ted

Do you have any more info on this family - did they arrive into NSW or Victoria?  Do you have any idea of his occupation?

Richard was an early settler who bought his family over from England in approx 1839.

I believe the settled first in Warnambool as 2 of Richard's daughters married there.

I havent found an arrival for the family.

On all documents I have Richard is a farmer or settler.

He purchased "Bourbinandera" and renaimed it Kilmore Station.

It is located South of Cranbourne in a small place called Sherwood.

What else can I tell you?

Hi
This link will take you to the First Families site where another searcher gives some details including immigration or RICHARD.

Approach of course with an open mind ;D

Thanks so much Sue.

No wonder I couldnt find where they arrived I presumed Victoria or SA. Never thought NSW. NEVER THOUGHT CONVICT ooohh.

How did rest of family get here???????

I have a lot of info about Richard and I am trying to be careful about what I leave on the internet about him because it might be distressing to other decendents who don't know the details.

I'm trying to find decendents and the only one I have no info on at all is John.

cheers Ted
