The original church register?    The BTs are a copy of that and are very helpful when the original is not available for some reason but the primary source is always the best thing to look at if you can.

The date of 24/05/1845 is given by briann1 ("the only thing I can add") but no source, since the BTs do not exist. So, without the GRO certificate, what is the source for this statement?

The original church register?   

If briann1 got the date from the original register then surely he would have had all the other details from it as well, rather than just the date  :-\

perhaps we'll will have to wait until briann visits Rootschat again to find out  :-\

Hi i got the date of the marriage in 1845 from the Sunderland registrars indexes, but since September the indexes to search for a Birth, Marriage or Death to enable you order a certificate online has not been available. But when it was available you had to order a certificate for further details of the marriage.So I can only suggest you contact Sunderland Registrars office.
