Lockhart House Dennistoun
« on: Monday 13 September 10 14:01 BST (UK) »
Would appreciate any information on the whereabouts of Lockhart House in the Dennistoun District of Glasgow. I have a wedding certificate under the forms of the Church of Scotland in 1902 in the Parish of Dennistoun and the wedding location is given as Lockhart House.
Many thanks,

Hi Baird

There are a number of people asking the same question on other boards over the years! No answers though  :-\ It is coming up on google as a place of marriage. The other posts I have seen are similar to yours in the main, with people following up on marriages where the place of marriage is given as Lockhart House.

Lockhart House was the manse for Townhead Parish Church. I believe the address was 40 Circus Drive on Broompark Circus. The house is still there.

Hi
I was also looking for Lockhart House, on my Great Grandfathers marriage certificate I traced the minister Robert Pryce ordained 1879, on the church of Scotland records. Looking up the census records for 1881 he was living in 40 Circus Drive, Dennistoun, Glasgow G31 2JE (The Manse) with his wife and family, this is in the area of my Great Grandmothers home address.

This is in Craigpark, a conservation area. Buffalo Bill's "Wild West Show!" was situated about here, wonder if that is the origin of the name Circus Drive?

Skoosh.

The name pre-dates Buffalo Bill visiting Europe

The minister's name was Robert Pryde in the VR's
