I am trying to track down information regarding the service of my gg grandfather Alfred IBBOTSON, who served in Ireland and India between 1857 and 1877. Does anyone know where I can look or even better, does anyone have information regarding the 4th Hussars which might be relevant.

If you can get to the National Archives in Kew you should be able to look up his service record in WO 97 series of records.
