Hi

I have a Mary Ovenden on my tree, she was born about 1785 Mayfield and married Stephen Humphery 1805 Speldhurst, Kent.
Sadly no records have been found to trace birth and parents.

You may find Brizenden also has a spelling as Brissenden, there seems to be a number of them in Ticehurst.

And far too many to add

Hi Suzy

You're in luck.  I have a Mary Ovenden bapt. 14 Nov 1784 dau of william Ovenden & Elizabeth Cripps at Mayfield.

William Ovenden married Elizabeth Cripps 21 Aug 1768.

I have traced the Ovendens back a few generations & the Cripps go back to 1500's all in Mayfield & surrounding areas.

Excellent.  I have her children if you are interested?
It is the Humphery side that connect to my Fairbrothers, Mary Ovenden would be a sister in-law to one of my ggg grandmothers.

We must be 3rd cousins I'm guessing.
I haven't yet established where the Ovenden's came from prior to 1744 but have a wealth of info to share, not sure how to put it on here though (if it's more than an attachment then I've had it !! )

Thanks Sean

That's interesting. The date's right for Thomas Brissenden. Is this available online to view or at ESRO?

It is from the East Sussex 1785 Land Tax Publication by Roger Davey, there might be a copy at ESRO, you can still buy copies online.
