Anything with an exact date is because we have the certificate to prove it. Also have census info as well... in the paper trail! lol

Hi Leeona,
Thanks very much for taking the time to list the family.  All information is much appreciated!  I'm just about to organise my files a bit so that it all looks a bit clearer.
Thanks again & regards,
Claire

Hi, I'm not sure when this thread started but I'm late to the table. This is a line of mine too and I am back with it to John Heron, weaver in New Galloway d 1808 and his wife Jane or Jean Clemie, Climy, McClymont, McClyment etc d 1791. He remarried  Helen Clark. The headstones are in Kells Cemetery, New Galloway. Anyone on ancestry could view my tree at Montague Tree in Progress, where there is much on this line.

There are several MI's for Cowans in Balmaclellan. Also a few more in Kells.  There was a census taken in Balmaclellan in 1792.  Let me know if you think of anything else (or come across some more names in either Balmaclellan or New Galloway.  By the way the name of the 'Laird' was Gordon and they are buried in Balmaclellan.

Hi, I'm not sure how old this thread is, hopefully you are still active on here. I am also a great granddaughter of John Andrew & like you have heard the story. I've read through your posts & noticed you wondered if he was actually the son of Jessie (The Cowan's aunt), I have also been thinking this.

If you are still on here I would love to hear from you & know where you are in our shared tree.

Fiona
