Peebles - Burials and Monumental Inscriptions
« on: Sunday 26 September 10 20:47 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out if one of my relatives, William Fullerton who died in Peebles in 1935, is buried in a local cemetery or churchyard. I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction to find any burial records or monumental inscriptions for this area, please.

The most likely cemetery would be St Andrews.  At the moment, only the pre 1855 MI's have been recorded.  You could try the Peebleshire News to see whether there was a Death Notice published in the paper ( the Heritage Hub at Hawick have the Peeblesshire News archive).

You could also try Bereavment Services at Scottish Borders Council - they would be able to confirm the location of the burial plot, date of death and date of burial.

I could also have a look around the cemetery for you as I'll be in Peebles in the next couple of weeks

Hi Elma,

Thanks for the tips which I will follow up. If you could have a look around the cemetery that would be fantastic.  Thanks very much for your help.

Regards

Peter

Have had a couple of walks around the cemetery especially in the section for the 1920's to 1940's and have not been able to locate any Fullerton headstone.  It could be in another area.  Best bet would be contact Bereavement Services at Scottish Borders Council
