Dalestorth House Skegby Mansfield
« on: Sunday 26 September 10 20:53 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have any information or even photos of this house.  Or any information relating to the Miller family who lived there.  It seems that for many years it was a Ladies School as well as a working farm.  I have found it on the census records from 1901 to 1851 but am trying to find out what happened to the Miller family who lived there.  In particular Lucy Hope Miller born about 1888 Mansfield - I can not find her on the 1911.  I know she achieved a 2nd class degree in 1910 and may have gone on to teach at Cheltenham's Ladies College - Cambray House.

Any information would be welcome.

I see from FreeBMD that John Joseph MILLER married Mary Victoria STORER in Mansfield R/D JuneQ 1876, but the marriage isn't on the Nottinghamshire FHS index.

Hi Sheila

can you explain the 2 dates against some people
is the first date born and the second date baptised?

Did Margaret Ann have a middle name Milward as well as a surname Miller ?

Thanks for you help

Also thank you for all the siblings names

I think there was also:-
John born abt 1876 at Morton Derbyshire
Richard George b. abt 1880 Morton - died 1897 Mansfield aged 16

On the 1911 it says they had 9 children in all of which 7 died - one was Richard but I cannot work out which was the other one who died pre 1911.

Neither can I find marriages for the majority of these siblings. Lucy gained a degree at Cambridge so I wondered if she and her sisters were very academic that they maybe chose not to marry?

I have only found a marriage for Edward Albert Miller who I think married Muriel Hall in 1925 in Braintree Essex.

A friend of mine has some letters and notes sent to and by Lucy circa 1905 - 1912 and we are trying to trace the family forward so we can return the letters to them.

Any help welcome.
