Hi

Can you be more specific as to what info you already have and what you want help with - just so we don't waste time duplicating info

As he was born 1870 - have you looked for him on the 1881 census which is free to search at

Where did you get his details from as there is no birth or marriage specific to anybody with that middle name and no James Drury born Plymouth 1868-1872 on the 1871/1881

Hi Cal

My query was not in relation to your reply about the James aged 4 - I was asking Sondaleigh where the opening info was obtained from.  Where was the full name. birthyear and birthplace obtained from?

He is my great grandfather (maternal) so I have a bit but can't find his parents.  On his AIF 1st World War record and his Marriage cert he listed his birth as Plymouth but ages seem to change so can't be specific about year. I am going with 1874. His parents name change as well - either James and Elizabeth Vickory (Aust death record) or Elizabeth (Sooye) on NZ marriage cert . He was married in NZ to Kate McGarrie and then again in Aust to Cathleen Ruth Menkens. He also served for NZ in Boer War. Problem is trying to find where he came from. Hope this helps to clarify a bit. This is my first day on here so sorry if I am not doing it right.

Don't worry about it -  we'll get there in the end

Are you sure he was from Plymouth in England as there are Plymouths in other countries

I've just checked births for christian names only James Willoughby between 1870-1875.  Only 4 show and none was surname Drury

There is no James Drury marriage to a Vick** or a Soo** - wildcard search in case of mis-spelling
