A rough date for man and dog?

Possibly great grandad but not sure! Any ideas what sort of date this might have been taken? Thank you!

I'm not a dater but wonder if the items on table and indeed the tablecloth might be more of an indicator of date than the gentleman's clothes?  Not that I can date the pattern on the tablecloth or add anything useful but someone might recognise it perhaps?  It almost looks like it's been printed on oilcloth or somesuch as it looks a bit stiff for ordinary cotton.

Hope someone comes along soon with more idea than me!    Heather

Thank you Carol and Heather! The table items idea could work! The photograph is about 9 by 6 cms and on the back of it there is "velox" stamped about 3 times if that helps anyone...!

It looks like it could be a prize winning photo as there is a medal on the table to the right...the silverware could be prizes won for shooting and the dog could be a gun dog...just a thought.

Possible, could also be a medal from WW1? Not sure what sort of date these types of photos were taken!
