Government College in Herchen, Germany @ 1860
« on: Thursday 30 September 10 01:45 BST (UK) »
My ancestor, Christian Schuhmacher was a teacher at the "government college in Herchen Germany".  I would like to find out about this college and what he taught.
I have found two references to this, one in emigration records of the sons and one in a California biography.  He had two sons who came to the US in 1861, 62.  They were Christian Schumacher Jr. b. 1839 and Julius Schuhmacher b. 1843  (names spelled as on emigration docs of sons. I have googled this and not found the college yet.  Any ideas would be SO appreciated.  Thanks!!!!
