an ancestor of mine from Prince Edward Island Canada on the east coast married in ca 1863  Ann McPhilips  daughter of Bernard McPhilips and Nancy Currie. There was a very large contingentcy of Irish in PEI  especially from the County Monaghan /Truagh. There were 2 children :  a girl and boy  born 1 year apart. Sadly Ann died no doubt a few years later( I would guess something to do with pregnancy)  ***Just as an aside.....many Irish from all areas settled in what is referred to as the Maritimes which = Canadian Provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia as well as Prince Edward Island in the early years of the 1800's. Some of my own  arrived 1839.*** Saint John, New Brunswick was  more affordable for those booking passagefrom irelandetc.  USA ports ie Boston Massachusetts and New York and various other eastern seaboard ports could be considered "close by"

I'd be very interested if you found what you were looking for as I am a McPhillips from Clones and My Grandparents and great grandparents were from Clones around the time you are querying.

I have access to a record that informs me that there was a Hugh McPhillips born in Clones on 10th December 1867- Son of Owen McPhillipsn and Sarah McGorman. - they lived at Cara Street in Clones.

I hope this is of help and ties into what you already know. I'd be interested to find out if it does!

Hi,
I'm interested in finding some info on McPhillips's from Clones, born in the 1920's - 1930's who would've likely have moved to either Scotland or England.
Is this a good place to begin looking?

Thanks
