« on: Sunday 30 May 04 16:08 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find any info I can on Hugh Craney b.abt1800 and was told he was christened May 5,1801 in Magheralin,Down County,Ireland and arrived in the USA in 1826.The info I have came from NB,Canada Census and church records for Pennifield and it listed his death as May 15,1868 age 65 and he moved to Canda from Ireland.I am looking for his parents if anybody can help.

Just did a quick search on: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp for you, and came back with the following results:

1 Hugh CREANY
Christening 28 May 1801 Magheralin, Down, Ireland
father Patrick CREANY

2 Hugh CREANY b about 1801 Magheralin, Down, Ireland
father Patrick CREANY

3 Marriage record:
07 Sep 1829, Penfield, Charlotte, New Brunswick
Hugh CRANEY (b 1803, Ireland) m Elizabeth MEALY
Hugh CRANEY d 15 May 1868

There is a slight difference in surname spelling, but the christening date is very close. (Perhaps the date you had was his birth?)

It looks possible that his father's name was Patrick (a very popular Irish name!)

Try the above link to search the IGI & Census records.

Hope this helps.
