hi dazey,

wow! brilliant, big thank you. a few children i did not know about. how did you manage to find them so quickly?

i have rose as the daughter of william and susan akehurst and have found them on the census, 1861 and 1871. i can see that rose is a servant in 1881 but for the life of me i cannot trace thomas anguige back at all!!!

can you see him in any earlier censuses?

Fantastic dazey,

you have now given me his parents and siblings, you have opened up a new avenue for me to explore, can you see the family on any other census?

by the looks of things absolom and sarah married around 1869, so it would be nice to find them in 1881, i will go and check if i can find them.

i presume absolom went to brighton looking for work from yorkshire.

Joe,
I came across you while searching for info on A J Lane of Brighton.
A friend is compiling a collection of his articles from "The Field," and I have just found proof that he was the author of a fishing manuscript in 1843. I have the census info (dates of birth, marriage, death, addresses & relatives) plus more stuff on his career and his writings.
How did your researches go? I'm wondering why, in later life, he was known as A.J. Norton Lane.
Happy to share info.
Best wishes,
Paul
