Where in Llanfihangel Helygen?
« on: Friday 08 April 05 22:40 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can give me any suggestion as to where a family might be in 1841 ???

1861
they were living at "Lower Glandulace"

likewise in 1851

children were born 1840 at  Llandulas
                               1843 at  Thimble Court
                               1845 at     "           "
                               1845 at  Llandulas
                               1851 at    "

our Family Bible says "Glandulais"

Where is this 'place' exactly ???

Thimble Court I presume is a residence.

I think these are all in Llanfihangel Helygen , however I cannot find the family I am searching for, in the 1841 census.  Any help to the location of these places would be of great help.

Hello
Thimble Court and Glan-Dulas exist today.
Thimble Court is around half a mile east of Llanfihangel Helygen's church. Glan-Dulas is a further half mile east

Thank you for the information, it's wonderful to know they still exist today.
Are you familiar with the area, if so do you know if these would be in the Hundred of Rhaeadr or Cefnllys for the 1841 census?

Llanfihangel Helygen is in The Hundred of Rhayader.

Powys Family History Society's 1841 census transcription for that parish, lists Glandulace and Little Glandulace. There is no Thimble Court listed , but there is a Bodkin Hall and a "New House". So maybe one of these two.

Total embarrassment  :-[
I have that census transcription and I had not found them, I must have gone blind the day I checked it. As you said they WERE there I dug it out and rechecked and lo and behold  :o

Of course, the family I am looking for was not at either Glandulace or Little Glandulace. Found a Thimble Hall but not there either.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I think I will spend some time looking through all the MORGAN in case my ancestors are there and I have missed them so easily too.

Thank you kmo
