parents of Wright / McCallum married 1856 wishaw

Hi,

Looking for info on the Wright / McCallum families 1800 - 1860.

Richard Wright was born in Cambusnethan and married to Ann Jane McCallum on the 6 june 1856 in Cambusnethan Wishaw.

Trying to verify parents what i have is Richards parents George Wright and Mary McDill on marriage document but on family search Richards mother is Agnes Ferguson ??.


Ann Jane McCallum parents are James McCallum and Mary McQuade from marriage document  tried family search but get little info.

Any help appreciated

I'd go with the info on the marriage record as it would be supplied by the bride and groom

From the census record for 1861 it looks like Richard and Ann were born in Ireland

Doesn't look as though they are in the 1851 census for Lanarkshire.

Here's what I found in the Cambusnethan cemetery burial records.

GEORGE WRIGHT. Pauper, Wishaw, aged 33 years, married.
Parents - George Wright and Mary McGinn.
Interred 5th August 1862, public ground.

ANTHONY WRIGHT. Pauper, Wishaw, aged 48 years, married.
Parents - George Wright and Mary Madill.
Interred 2nd December 1871, public ground.

RICHARD WRIGHT. Miner and pauper, Wishaw, aged 47 years, married.
Parents - George Wright and Mary McGill.
Interred 6th June 1876, public ground.

MARY WRIGHT. Outworker and pauper, Wishaw, aged 23 years, single.
Parents - Richard Wright and Ann McCallum.
Interred 20th August 1880, public ground.

STILLBORN FEMALE WRIGHT. Wishaw.
Mother - Mary Wright.
Interred 20th August 1880, public ground.

JAMES McK. WRIGHT, Wishaw, aged 3 weeks.
Mother - Mary Wright.
Interred 8th September 1880, public ground.
(I suspect that this was a twin of the stillborn child but you would have to check the death certificate - Lodger)

The following are all interred in a family plot.

Parents - Elijah Belcher and Ann Wright.
Interred plot E1786.  17th May 1907.
Plot owner - Elijah Belcher, ironworker, 2 Brown St, Wishaw.

GEORGE WRIGHT. Coalminer, Omoa Poorhouse, aged 41 years, single.
Parents - Richard Wright and Ann McCallum.
Interred plot E1786. 18th May 1907.

RACHEL A.R.R. BELCHER. Child, wishaw, aged 9 months.
Parents Thomas John Belcher and Matilda S Smith.
Interred plot E1786.  21st August 1908.

ANN BELCHER. Housewife, Wishaw, aged 40 years, married.
Parents - Richard Wright and Ann McCallum.
Interred plot E1786 18th January 1909.

ANNIE M W BELCHER.  Child, Wishaw, aged 2 years 7 months.
Parents - Thomas J Belcher and Matilda S Smith.
Interred plot E1786. 7th July 1909.

ELIJAH BELCHER. Ironworker, Wishaw, aged 47 years, widower.
Parents - Thomas Belcher and Martha Whitehouse.
Interred plot E1786.  8th March 1911.

ELIJAH BELCHER. Child, Shieldmuir, aged 3 weeks.
Parents - Elijah Belcher and Jeanie Millen.
Interred plot E1786.  11th April 1913.

I  have the marriage cetrtificate of Richard and Ann and also Richards death somewhere...maybe on Scotlands People and I am sure the mother on Family search is not his.

I have been searching this family as my grandfathers Uncle, John Robertson married Rachel their daughter born 1867 in Wishaw. You may be interested to know that John and Rachel emigrated to the USA and I have located at least two descendants within the last year..
The elder daughter Mary had a illigitimate son William McKenzie and their is a family tree for them on the Net

The Mother of richard according to an extract of the marriage that i have is Mary McDill and father George Wright.

Yes thats correct.  I also have the death cert also of Richard that verifys its the George and Mary that you had found in your original message in which you had also mentioned an Agnes Ferguson being on Family Search as his mother but we can discount that completely.
Hve you any idea when Ann died...I could never find out in my Scotlands People searches.

Hi Marilyn,

Thanks for ruleing out Agnes Ferguson, now i can concentrate on the rest, unfortunately i do not have any info on Ann except the Marriage which would make her born around 1836, death i may find out the next time i go to the family history centre.

Do you have any info on either of the parents?
